The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made significant changes to its central contracts on Wednesday, opting to terminate the contracts of Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya, despite his absence from Test cricket since 2018, secured a place in Grade A, prompting former India pacer Irfan Pathan to question the disparity in treatment among players.

Pathan raised concerns over the BCCI's decision, particularly regarding the differing criteria applied to players like Hardik Pandya, who have opted out of red-ball cricket. "If players like Hardik don't want to play red ball cricket, should he and others like him participate in white-ball domestic cricket when they aren't on national duty?" he questioned BCCI's decision, in his post on X."If this doesn't apply to all, then Indian cricket won't achieve the desired results!" he added.
